It’s a meeting of two in-form teams at Forthbank on Saturday. We have won our last four matches to climb to fifth in the Ladbrokes League 2 table but are 10 points behind an Annan side who occupy the final play-off place after five victories on the spin.
Team news: Right-back Liam Caddis is suspended after being sent off in the 3-1 win at Montrose last week. Midfield trio Calvin Colquhoun, Willie Robertson and Jack McCue remain sidelined through injury, along with skipper Ross McMillan, and the game is likely to come too soon for former Rangers striker Andy Little. However, on-loan Hearts winger Callumn Morrison is set to return to the squad for the first time in 2017.
Previous meetings: We have an excellent record against Annan at Forthbank, winning six of the eight encounters since they joined the SFL in 2008 and losing just once. We came from behind to claim a 3-1 victory in December – Max Wright gave Jim Chapman’s men a first-minute lead from the penalty spot but goals from Darren Smith, Ross McMillan and Dylan Bikey turned things round. We were thumped 4-1 at Galabank in January despite going ahead early on through Blair Henderson.
Opponents: Annan have won five games in a row – four of them by a 1-0 margin – and seven of their last eight matches and trail third-placed Elgin City only on goal difference. The signings of Gavin Skelton and Peter Weatherson have been important while on-loan St Mirren winger Nathan Flanagan is one to watch. The Galabankies haven’t drawn a match since October.
