Stirling Albion play their second home game in the space of four days when Elgin City visit Forthbank on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, in a fixture that was rearranged from January 21 due to our Scottish Cup tie with Clyde.
We are aiming to make it four matches without defeat following draws at home to Berwick and away to Arbroath prior to Saturday’s 1-0 win over Edinburgh City.
Team news: Eight players missed out through injury at the weekend and this match may come too soon for all of them. Central defenders Ross McMillan and Frazer Wright, left-back Ross Forsyth, midfielders Willie Robertson, Darren Petrie and Jack McCue, and on-loan wingers Callumn Morrison and Josh Jeffries were those sidelined. Former Ayr wide man Andrew Johnstone could feature for the third and final time as a trialist.
Previous meetings: This is the fourth meeting between the teams this season. We won the first 4-1 at Forthbank in the Betfred Cup when Blair Henderson hit a second-half hat-trick but Elgin triumphed 4-0 at the end of September, with Shane Sutherland scoring a double in what proved to be Stuart McLaren’s last match in charge. Dave Mackay’s first game as Binos boss saw us grab a dramatic 3-2 victory at Borough Briggs thanks to a last-minute winner from Jamie Mills.
Opponents: Only Celtic have scored more league goals than the 56 netted by Jim Weir’s men this season – Shane Sutherland has contributed 18 of them. Elgin are on a run of seven games without defeat – five wins and two draws, both with leaders Forfar – and beat Berwick 1-0 at Shielfield on Saturday with a Chris McLeish goal. The Moray men are third in the table and their home and away records are identical – seven wins, one draw and four defeats.
