Berwick preview

Saturday 9.00am update – there are no issues with the pitch and it’s very much GAME ON against Berwick Rangers today.

It’s another big game for Stirling Albion on Saturday as we welcome Berwick Rangers to Forthbank. Dave Mackay’s men are bidding to bounce back from recent defeats to Annan and Montrose while the Borderers head north on the back of a 4-1 win over Annan.

Team news: Willie Robertson is expected to be out for around four weeks after suffering a knee injury last week while fellow midfielder Calvin Colquhoun is suspended. Striker Ross Kavanagh and winger Callumn Morrison remain on the sidelines, along with Josh Jeffries, but right-back Ross McGeachie is close to a return after a foot problem.

Previous meetings: It was 0-0 at Fortbank in October when Martyn Corrigan was in caretaker charge of the team. Berwick had Kevin McKinlay sent off in stoppage time after an altercation with team-mate Brian Martin. John Coughlin’s side won 3-2 at Shielfield in a midweek match at the beginning of December. Dylan Nguene Bikey twice had us ahead but Greg Hurst and a double from Jordyn Sheerin, one a penalty, saw the hosts end their poor run.

Opponents: Berwick are two points above us in Ladbrokes League 2 – their last 11 games have seen them win three times and suffer eight defeats but two of those victories have come since the turn of the year. The Shielfield side made a number of January additions, including Pat Scullion (Alloa), Aaron Murrell (Dundee United, loan) and Euan Spark (Dunfermline, loan). Striker Jordyn Sheerin, forward Sam Perez and defender Brian Martin this week all left the club.
