We begin our February fixtures with a vital home game against Montrose on Saturday, as we bid to bounce back from defeats at Annan and Clyde.
Three of our four matches this month are at Forthbank and we go into the weekend seventh in the table, three points above bottom club Cowdenbeath and five behind our opponents.
Team news: Midfielder Jack McCue, on-loan Hearts winger Callumn Morrison and striker Ross Kavanagh remain on the sidelines and the game also comes too soon for right-back Ross McGeachie. Central defender Scott Davidson joined Cumbernauld Colts on loan at the beginning of the week and the transfer window closed without any late business in or out.
Previous meetings: We were 2-0 winners at Forthbank in August thanks to a Darren Smith goal and a stunning last-minute strike from Marc McKenzie. It was 2-2 at Links Park on Christmas Eve – an Andrew Steeves OG gave us the lead but Terry Masson and Gary Fraser turned things round before Ross Smith rescued a slightly fortunate point 10 minutes from time.
Opponents: Montrose have climbed to fifth in the table under the guidance of Stewart Petrie, helped by back-to-back 2-1 home wins over Cowdenbeath and Berwick Rangers last month. The Gable Endies have won four, drawn two and lost just one of their last seven matches – 3-0 at home to Elgin. Their top scorer is Gary Fraser, with nine league goals and January signings included Dylan Thomas (Aberdeen, loan), Liam Callaghan (Arbroath) and Kerr Hay (Forfar Athletic).
