There are a big few days coming up for Stirling Albion, with a trip to Annan in Ladbrokes League 2 on Saturday followed by a Scottish Cup replay at Clyde on Tuesday, for the right to face Ayr in the last 16. Dave Mackay’s men are seventh in the table, six points outside the play-offs with a game in hand and three ahead of bottom club Cowdenbeath.
Team news: Skipper Ross McMillan could return but Ross Smith, Ross McGeachie, Ross Kavanagh and Callumn Morrison remain on the sidelines. Midfielder Josh Jeffries, on loan from Rangers, this week became our seventh signing of the transfer window. French striker Dylan Bikey yesterday left the club and today signed for Hearts.
Opponents: Annan moved three points clear in fourth place last week with an impressive 2-1 win over Arbroath at Gayfield. Their recent run in League 2 is WWLLWWLLW so hopefully we can break that pattern this weekend! Experienced striker Peter Weatherson and Smart Osadolor recently returned to Galabank and Gavin Skelton joined last month.
Past meetings: It’s been a win apiece so far this season – we went down 3-2 at Galabank on the opening day then won 3-1 at Forthbank in December. We were unbeaten against Jim Chapman’s team last season, winning twice at home and drawing both games on our travels.
