Clyde preview

We play our first match of 2017 when Clyde visit Forthbank on Saturday. We are bidding to bounce back from last week’s 2-1 loss to Cowdenbeath while the Bully Wee were beaten 3-2 by Annan.

Binos boss Dave Mackay has added midfielder Willie Robertson to his squad while winger Connor McLaren has joined on loan from St Johnstone. Mackay took the new signing tally to five on Friday with the addition of centre-half Frazer Wright, left-back Conor Quigley, on loan from Dundee, and midfielder Liam Caddis.

Team news: Goalkeeper Chris Smith remains sidelined after recent knee surgery and on-loan Hearts winger Callumn Morrison misses out following an injury against Cowdenbeath last week. Midfielder Angus Beith is available after serving a one-match ban but Jack McCue and Moses Olanrewaju are still absent and Ross McGeachie is rated doubtful.

Previous meetings: Both games this season have finished 1-1. Ross Forsyth earned us a point at Forthbank in August after Sean Higgins opened the scoring then in October at Broadwood Peter MacDonald levelled after Marc McKenzie struck early on. Clyde won three of the four meetings last season.

Opponents: Clyde are fourth in the table – above Annan on goal difference – despite a poor recent run that has seen them pick up just one point from a possible 15 in League 2 since beating Berwick 3-2 on November 19. During that run they thrashed Arbroath 5-0 in the Scottish Cup and return to Forthbank in a fortnight for round four. Peter MacDonald has netted 11 league goals for Barry Ferguson’s men this season.
