From the Chairman

From the January edition of The Albion magazine, which goes on sale at the Clyde game on Saturday.

Following our abject performance against Cowdenbeath on Hogmanay, it would be incongruous to open my first article of 2017 by wishing everyone a “Happy New Year”.

That being the case, I will limit myself to wishing everyone associated with Stirling Albion all the very best for 2017.

Supporters have every right to be unhappy (understatement acknowledged) and frustrated about the position we find ourselves in and, whilst it may be of little comfort to some, I offer the assurance that the Club Executive Board is working with Dave (Mackay) to assist him in any and every way possible to bring about the necessary improvement.

From a personal perspective, I will continue to do what I’ve done, without exception, for the past six years; namely give 100% to the job in hand and base everything I do on what I believe to be in the best interest of Stirling Albion.

In acknowledging the frustrations of supporters, I also accept that some are looking for answers to a myriad of questions. It is not for me to pre-empt those questions by trying to provide answers within the body of “Inside the Box”.

Nor is it appropriate, or constructive, to offer an open meeting to Meet the Chairman given that such a forum invariably results in a select few dominating the floor and the majority being left with their questions unasked and thereby unanswered. Additionally, and importantly, a meeting inevitably excludes many who are unable to attend on the given time and date.

Bearing the above in mind, I will make myself available, at a mutually convenient time, to any supporter who wants to discuss anything relevant to Stirling Albion.

January sees us host Clyde FC twice, the first on League business and the second, two weeks later, in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup and I extend a warm 2017 welcome to their officials, management, players and supporters. We’re not expecting any first foot gifts from you but equally it is our intention to send you home empty handed!
