Stirling Albion end the year with a home game against Cowdenbeath on Hogmanay, with kick-off at the earlier time of 2.00pm.
Saturday’s match marks the halfway stage of the campaign and it’s a big game for both clubs – we are two points and two places ahead of Liam Fox’s side in the Ladbrokes League 2 table and are looking for a third successive Forthbank win after beating Annan and Wick Academy this month.
Team news: On-loan Hearts midfielder Angus Beith is suspended after being sent off in last week’s 2-2 draw at Montrose. Goalkeeper Chris Smith is out for several weeks after undergoing recent knee surgery so Cammy Binnie will continue in goal. Winger Moses Olanrewaju and midfielder Jack McCue are also ruled out.
Previous meetings: We won 2-0 at Central Park on October 1 during Martyn Corrigan’s spell as caretaker manager thanks to goals from Isaac Layne and Darren Smith. The last meeting between the teams at Forthbank was in April 2012 when the Blue Brazil won 2-0 with goals from future Binos Lewis Coult and Marc McKenzie.
Opponents: Cowdenbeath have slipped to the foot of the table after a run of three straight defeats to Annan (0-2), Forfar (3-4) and Arbroath (0-2), which followed a four-match unbeaten streak. Their next three games are at home to Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City and away to Montrose. Kris Renton is Cowdenbeath’s top scorer, with six goals in League 2 this season.
