From the December issue of The Albion magazine
I could fill this article with any number of well-worn clichés to express how I feel at present but I’ll restrict myself to assuring readers that my frustration, disappointment and above all awareness of our current league position is as acute as any of our supporters.
I can also provide you with the reassurance that myself and my fellow Club Board colleagues are fully committed to – and are already actively engaged in – supporting Dave Mackay in every possible way that we can.
Next I would like to take the perhaps unusual step of broadly repeating an extract from my October piece…
Inevitably, there is a considerable amount of healthy “discussion” being generated, through various fora, by the current situation. I welcome this 100% and respect it whatever the viewpoint of the owner. Unfortunately, alongside this – and I suppose equally inevitably – there is a smattering of ill-informed, abusive comment which is 100% unhealthy, inappropriate, and unwelcome.
All I can do is repeat my offer that has stood since day one of my tenure; I’m ready and willing to answer questions and/or concerns that are put to me in person and I can be contacted through e-mail (email@example.com) or telephone (01786 450399) and I promise to get back to you and, where practical, arrange to meet at the earliest opportunity.
… again, as previously stated, I’ve had the grand total of one supporter take me up on this sincere offer and whilst I fully accept that everyone has the right to remain silent, it is nevertheless disappointing.
Turning to more positive matters, I’m delighted to formally welcome Ross Forsyth to the management team. I’ve no doubt that Ross the manager/coach will quickly earn the same respect as he did (does!) as a player. Clearly it has been a difficult start to his tenure but his professionalism as a player will doubtlessly be transferred to his coaching career and he is working tirelessly alongside Dave to “right the ship”.
I close with the traditional festive welcome to the officials, management, players, and supporters of our visitors to Forthbank during December – Annan Athletic and Cowdenbeath – just don’t expect any presents as we strive to finish the year on a high.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2017 to everyone associated with Stirling Albion.
