Stirling Albion head for Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday for a big game against an Edinburgh City side who are above us in the Ladbrokes League 2 table on goal difference.
City haven’t lost a league game since going down 1-0 at home to Clyde in mid-October while we are aiming for a third away victory as we bid to pull away from the wrong end of the table.
Team news: Darren Petrie is suspended after receiving a second yellow card after our 3-2 defeat at Berwick in midweek. Willie Robertson is unavailable as he has now played the maximum three permitted games as a trialist but Binos boss Dave Mackay hopes to do a deal when the transfer window opens next month. Moses Olanrewaju and Jack McCue remain on the injury list.
Opponents: Gary Jardine’s side lost their first nine games in league and cup this season but have done well to turn their season around and Wednesday’s 1-0 Scottish Cup replay defeat at home to East Fife ended an eight-match unbeaten run. Their most recent League 2 game was a 1-0 win at Arbroath on Saturday.
Awards: Edinburgh City boss Gary Jardine has been named Ladbrokes League 2 Manager of the Month for November, with midfielder Marc Laird landing the Player of the Month prize.
Trivia: None of City’s last 10 matches have produced more than two goals. Our three league games since Dave Mackay took over have brought a 3-2 win, a 2-2 draw and a 3-2 defeat, as well as a 2-0 victory over Wick Academy in the Scottish Cup.
Past meetings: It was 1-1 at Forthbank on September 10 when Ross Allum scored a late equaliser for City after Ross McMillan had given us the lead. Our last visit to Meadowbank Stadium was 10 years ago this weekend when an early Steven Bell goal secured a 1-0 win in a Scottish Cup second-round tie.
