Saturday’s William Hill Scottish Cup third-round tie against Wick Academy at Forthbank has been postponed following a pitch inspection.
The club this evening issued the following statement: “Following a marked deterioration in conditions (from an overnight forecast of +2C, to current temperatures of -4C), and notwithstanding efforts by groundsman Graeme Glen and other members of staff, the condition of the pitch has not improved with any significance, and the potential for overnight improvement is slim to zero.
“As a result, match referee Grant Irvine attended this evening to conduct a pitch inspection at 9.15pm (in line with SFA protocol) and has called tomorrow’s fixture against Wick Academy OFF.
“All decisions made have been taken with a view to maximising the potential for the game going ahead but also with utmost consideration to the travelling players, officials and, most importantly, supporters of Wick Academy.
“The fixture will now go ahead (weather permitting) on Saturday December 3 at Forthbank Stadium, with a 3.00pm kick-off.
“A new date for our Ladbrokes League 2 game away to Berwick Rangers – due to be played next weekend – will be confirmed in due course.”
