Arbroath preview

Dave Mackay takes charge of his first home game as Stirling Albion manager on Saturday as we welcome Arbroath to Forthbank.

We go into the match on the back of a terrific 3-2 victory at Elgin last weekend while the Red Lichties ran out impressive 4-0 winners against Clyde at Gayfield to go third in the table.

Team news: Darren Smith, Ross Forsyth, Jack McCue and Moses Olanrewaju remain out. Ross Smith, who was an unused sub at Borough Briggs after a spell on the sidelines, played for the U20s in midweek and Willie Robertson could again feature as a trialist. Striker Isaac Layne has been recalled from his loan by parent club Alloa.

Previous meetings: Arbroath won 5-3 when the sides met at Gayfield back in August, helped by a Bobby Linn hat-trick in the second half. Josh Skelly and Omar Kader also scored for the hosts, while our goals came from a Jass Sukar OG, Blair Henderson and Eddie Ferns. We hit back to win 3-1 at Forthbank 12 months ago and also triumphed 1-0 at home in March with a late Craig Beattie goal.

Opponents: Arbroath have drawn half of their 12 games in Ladbrokes League 2 but have suffered only one defeat – away to Clyde in September. Dick Campbell’s men return to Broadwood on Scottish Cup duty next weekend. The Arbroath team that started against the Bully Wee last week included former Binos Ryan McCord and Bryan Prunty, who was replaced by Steven Doris.
