New manager Dave Mackay takes charge for the first time as we make the long journey north to play Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Saturday.
We are looking to bounce back from last week’s 3-0 home defeat to Forfar while we drew our most recent away match 1-1 with Clyde.
Team news: Full-back Ross Forsyth, who has missed the last seven games with a knee injury, and forward Darren Smith, whose last appearance came in the 0-0 draw with Berwick on October 15, are again likely to be sidelined.
Opponents: Elgin are second in the table, four points behind leaders Forfar, having lost 2-1 to Clyde at Broadwood last weekend. The Moray men had won four games in a row before that – one of them at Gala in the Scottish Cup – and saw off Cowdenbeath 3-1 in their last home fixture.
Past meetings: We ran out 4-1 winners in the Betfred Cup in July but Elgin strolled it 4-0 on their return to Forthbank at the end of September to end Stuart McLaren’s reign as manager. We were beaten three times at Borough Briggs last season – our last visit was for a midweek match in March when Jim Weir’s men claimed a 2-1 victory thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from Brian Cameron after Ross McGeachie cancelled out Craig Gunn’s opener.
