Forfar maintained their 100% record in Ladbrokes League 2 to stay five points clear at the top as we slipped to second from bottom in the table.
On an afternoon of glorious sunshine at Station Park we equalised through Sean Dickson after Andy Munro had opened the scoring but the Loons regained the lead on the hour mark through Josh Peters and sealed their latest success with two late goals from Peters and sub Danny Denholm.
It means we have now conceded 12 goals in three away games in Ladbrokes League 2 this season and remain without a win on our travels since December.
Binos boss Stuart McLaren made three changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Edinburgh City last week – Isaac Layne and Blair Henderson dropped to the bench and Ross Forsyth was out injured, with Bryan Hodge and Jack McCue also sidelined.
Moses Olanrewaju, Darren Petrie and David Verlaque all started in a 4-4-2 formation that saw Petrie at left-back and Verlaque on the right of midfield.
Eddie Ferns missed a good early chance and Darren Smith was booked for diving when he went down under a challenge from keeper Grant Adam before Forfar broke the deadlock in 25 minutes when centre-half Munro headed in a David Cox corner at the near post.
Dickson was inches away from equalising after being set up by Olanrewaju but he deservedly drew us level just before the break with a terrific strike from outside the box after a fine move that ended with Ferns teeing him up.
Adam made a reaction save to keep out a Ross McMillan header early in the second half then Smith was denied as the keeper came out quickly to block his shot.
Gavin Swankie came close at the other end before the ex-Arbroath man found August Player of the Month Peters, who swept a low shot into the corner in 61 minutes.
Olanrewaju’s mazy run into the box was only let down by a finish that lacked conviction but Lewis Milne almost scored a third for Forfar and Peters did make it 3-1 with a terrific 20-yarder that went in off the post with two minutes left.
Denholm rounded things off for Gary Bollan’s men in stoppage time when he found time and space in the box to drill the ball beyond Chris Smith.
