We head for Glebe Park on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, in Betfred Cup Group B, aiming to build on a terrific performance and result that saw us shock Falkirk 1-0 at Forthbank on Saturday. City were the odd team out at the weekend, with St Johnstone beating Elgin City 3-1 at Borough Briggs in the other tie.
Team news: Ross Smith is again suspended and Ross McGeachie and Aurelien Mazel are likely to miss out due to injury but Ross Forsyth is available after missing the win over Falkirk on Saturday.
Opponents: Darren Dods’ side looked relegation certainties at one stage last season but a superb run of eight wins in the last 10 games saw them preserve their League 1 status. City have brought in a number of new players this summer – Ally Love (Albion Rovers), Chris O’Neil (Airdrieonians), Alan Trouten (Ayr United), Ross Caldwell (Cowdenbeath), Finn Graham (Berwick Rangers), Dougie Hill (Alloa Athletic), Gareth Rodger (Forfar Athletic) and Elliot Ford (Raith Rovers).
Past meetings: Our last game against Brechin was in April 2015 when Andy Jackson scored a last-minute winner in a 2-1 City victory after Sandy Cunningham had equalised late on – Brechin won all four meetings that season. The last League Cup tie between the sides saw us win 1-0 at Glebe Park in August 2007 before losing to Hearts.
Rules: A reminder that all drawn group stage games go straight to penalties, with the winners receiving a bonus point.
