Petrie agrees terms
We are delighted to announce that midfielders Darren Petrie and Jack McCue have agreed to sign contracts for next season.
They join fellow new recruits Bryan Hodge, Marc McKenzie and Eddie Ferns at Forthbank for season 2016/17.
Stirling-born Darren began his career at Dundee United and had loan spells at Brechin City and Dumbarton before joining Raith Rovers last summer.
The 20-year-old (pictured) also spent time on loan at Albion Rovers in 2015/16 and has been capped by Scotland at U19 level.
Jack, 21, makes the move from Airdrieonians, having made a couple of first-team appearances at the Excelsior Stadium.
Stirling Albion manager Stuart McLaren said: “Darren’s attributes will make him a fantastic addition to our squad. He will complement the other midfielders we have, while also having the added value of being versatile enough to play in other positions.
“He was a much sought-after player, who never quite got the opportunity to establish himself at Raith Rovers last season, so we are extremely pleased that Darren sees Stirling Albion as the place to further develop his career. The supporters will no doubt appreciate his quality in possession as well as his aggression and energy.
“Jack is a very talented, young midfielder who has a terrific work rate. He was highly thought of at Airdrieonians but their steps toward a full-time set-up meant he has had to look at other options to continue his career.
“Once again, we are delighted that the player sees our club as the best place to do that and I look forward to him working hard to earn a place in the team.”
