Stirling Albion head for Links Park on Saturday to play Montrose in our penultimate away fixture in Ladbrokes League 2 this season – our last away success was at Links Park in December.
It’s 20 years ago this month since Kevin Drinkell’s team won the Second Division title at Montrose and 25 years since John Brogan’s team did likewise.
Team news: Defender Scot Buist remains out due to injury and winger Moses Olanrewaju faces a late fitness test but midfielder Craig Comrie returns after a one-match ban.
Opponents: Montrose are second from bottom of the table but are 10 points clear of relegation play-off bound East Stirlingshire. Paul Hegarty’s men go into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat at leaders East Fife, having drawn 3-3 away to Clyde the previous week. Montrose have won eight, drawn three and lost five of their 16 home games this season.
Past meetings: We have won all three encounters this season. It was 1-0 at Forthbank in September when Ross McMillan headed the only goal after Ross McGeachie had been sent off and Montrose had missed a penalty. We triumphed 3-1 at Links Park in December thanks to a Darren Smith hat-trick and enjoyed a 7-0 midweek home win in February, helped by another Darren Smith treble.
