We welcome Ladbrokes League 2 leaders East Fife to Forthbank on Saturday in the first part of a home double header that sees us face East Stirlingshire next weekend.
Stirling Albion go into the match five points outside the top four in the race for the play-offs but we have won three of our last four games at home – the exception being the 2-1 reverse to Clyde.
Team news: Stuart McLaren expects to have a full squad to choose from. On-loan St Mirren midfielder Lewis McLear returns after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury and full-back Kevin McKinlay made his comeback in the U20 match on Tuesday after two months out. Scot Buist, injured at Bayview last month, and Aurelien Mazel are also available. East Fife this week signed striker Paul McManus until the end of the season as he begins his fourth spell with the club.
Previous meetings: East Fife won 3-1 at Forthbank on Boxing Day thanks to a Nathan Austin hat-trick after we had gone ahead through an own goal early on. Kevin Smith was the scorer when Gary Naysmith’s men came out on top 1-0 at Bayview last month. It was 1-1 there in the first league meeting in October. We drew 0-0 in a Scottish Cup tie in Methil later that month before edging the replay 1-0.
Opponents: East Fife are a point clear of Elgin at the top of Ladbrokes League 2 after a superb run of form that has seen them win eight, draw one and lose just one of their last 10 games. Their last away fixture was a 3-1 victory at Elgin while last weekend saw the Fifers defeat Annan 4-2 at Bayview. It’s been quite a transformation by the Methil men, who had only won once in three months – at home to East Stirlingshire – prior to their December 26 success at Forthbank.
