East Fife are the visitors to Forthbank at the halfway stage of the season on Boxing Day as we look to continue the good run that has moved us to within goal difference of the play-offs and four points of leaders Annan.
Stuart McLaren’s men have won five home games in a row – three in Ladbrokes League 2 and two in the Scottish Cup – since being held to a 0-0 draw by East Stirlingshire on October 31.
Team news: Ross Forsyth returns after a one-match ban but fellow defender Ross McMillan is still sidelined with a hamstring injury. Striker Craig Beattie, who missed last week’s 1-0 home win over Annan, faces a late fitness test.
Opponents: East Fife were top at the end of August and are looking to get back on track after a disappointing run of results. Gary Naysmith’s side are sixth in the table, one place and five points below us. The Methil men drew 1-1 at home to Montrose last weekend, with on-loan Hibernian striker Jamie Insall their scorer, but lost their last away game 2-0 at Clyde.
Past meetings: This is the fourth meeting between the teams this season. It was 1-1 at Bayview in early October when Willie Robertson cancelled out Nathan Austin’s opening goal. The Scottish Cup tie at the same venue three weeks later finished 0-0 and we won the replay 1-0 thanks to a Steven Doris free-kick on a night when our opponents missed some good chances.
