Ladbrokes League 2 leaders Annan Athletic visit Forthbank on Saturday as we bid to continue the good run that has seen us win four of our last five league games. We are two points outside the play-offs and seven behind the Galabankies as the halfway stage approaches.
Team news: Skipper Ross McMillan remains out with a hamstring injury but is targeting a return to the squad early in 2016. Winger Phil Johnston, who has been out since August 22, is available after recovering from knee surgery.
Opponents: Annan have a three-point lead over Queen’s Park at the top of the table after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Montrose at Links Park. Jim Chapman’s side just missed out on the play-offs last season but are enjoying an excellent 2015/16 campaign. Annan are still unbeaten at Galabank and have lost just one of their last 13 league and cup games. They beat Inverurie Locos in a Scottish Cup replay to set up a fourth-round tie at home to Hamilton Accies.
Past meetings: It was 1-1 at Galabank back in August when Sean Dickson’s penalty earned us a point after Smart Osadolor had broken the deadlock just after half-time. Kevin McKinlay and Peter Watson were both sent off. Annan’s last visit to Forthbank was the first leg of the play-off semi-final in May 2014 when an outstanding first-half performance saw us win 3-1 thanks to goals from Graham Weir and David Weatherston (2) before David Hopkirk pulled one back.
