Stirling Albion are looking to bounce back from last week’s 2-0 defeat at Arbroath when we welcome Queen’s Park to Forthbank in Ladbrokes League 2 on Saturday.
Gus MacPherson’s men are one of five teams on 12 points – one behind leaders Annan – while we have seven points from the seven games so far. We complete the first quarter of the campaign with a visit to East Fife next week.
Team news: Defender Ross McGeachie returns after a one-match ban but striker Craig Beattie and midfielder Darren Lee Smith remain on the injury list. Phil Johnston and Salim Kouider-Aissa are also sidelined but U20 striker Ross Kavanagh is set to be added to the squad. Teenage midfielder Corey Irvine has joined Rossvale Juniors on loan. The visitors are without suspended on-loan Partick Thistle striker Chris Duggan.
Opponents: Queen’s Park arrive at Forthbank on the back of recent home victories over East Stirlingshire (5-1) and Elgin City (3-1). They lost their last away match 1-0 at Berwick but have already won on their travels against Clyde and Arbroath. Queen’s Park’s summer signings included ex-Albion midfielder Craig McLeish from East Kilbride.
Past meetings: The most recent encounter was a 2-2 draw at Forthbank in March 2014. Our goals came from Scott Gibson (og) and Craig Comrie, while Blair Spittal and Gavin Mitchell netted for the Spiders. We won the three other meetings between the teams that season but in 2012/13 it was Queen’s Park who took 10 points out of 12, winning twice at Forthbank in the process.
