Stirling Albion head for Gayfield on Saturday to play Arbroath in Ladbrokes League 2.
We are aiming to make it three wins out of three this month following recent victories over East Stirlingshire and Montrose while Arbroath are looking to move off the bottom of the table after getting their first win of 2015/16 last weekend.
Team news: Defender Ross McGeachie is suspended after being sent off in last week’s 1-0 win over Montrose and Craig Beattie and Darren Lee Smith remain out. Winger Phil Johnston, who has missed the last three games, played 45 minutes of the Development League match against Forfar on Tuesday.
Opponents: Arbroath have lost all three home games so far but Todd Lumsden’s side appear to be on the up after winning 1-0 at East Fife last week thanks to a Bobby Linn goal. The Red Lichties made a number of changes over the summer, with the new arrivals including ex-Binos Martin Grehan and Lewis Coult, although the latter has since joined Newtongrange Star. Their line-up at Bayview last week included on-loan Hamilton Accies duo Andy Ryan and Craig Watson.
Previous meetings: Our last visit to Gayfield was for a League Cup tie in August 2012 – Mark Ferry’s penalty gave us the lead but Paul Currie equalised late on and we lost 3-2 on penalties after extra time. The most recent league meetings were in 2011/12 when Arbroath won 4-2 and 2-0 – the second of those games was a midweek match following the abandonment of our Boxing Day fixture due to gale-force winds. We won 4-3 and 4-2 at Gayfield en route to promotion in 2009/10.
