English League 1 side Oldham Athletic proved much too strong in a Forthbank friendly on Friday night.
Darren Kelly’s team, who had been based at Stirling University for a week of pre-season training, turned in an impressive performance that Stuart McLaren’s men found hard to live with.
The Binos were without Mark Staunton, Ross Smith, Kevin McKinlay and Darren Lee Smith while Ross McMillan and Sean Dickson were forced off before half-time, although both changes were more of a precautionary measure.
Oldham, who included ex-SPFL players Lee Croft and Liam Kelly, were ahead after seven minutes when Danny Philliskirk finished well from close range.
Lee Hamilton forced Joel Coleman into a good save before the Latics doubled their advantage in 36 minutes when trialist Alen Ploj beat Chris Smith after a one-two.
Dominic Poleon added the third soon after with a crisp, low finish after we had carelessly conceded possession.
Oldham made seven changes at the break but they continued to dominate and Ploj finished off a fine move early in the second half.
Rhys Turner completed the scoring in 65 minutes when he latched on to a good through ball and ran clear to beat Smith with a composed finish.
