Stirling Albion claimed some pre-season silverware thanks to a 2-1 win over Hearts at Forthbank in the Supporters Direct Cup on Tuesday night.
Robbie Neilson’s side – which was a mix of youth and experience – went ahead in 17 minutes when Kevin McHattie crossed for Russell McLean to turn the ball past Chris Smith from close range.
Our equaliser came with a quarter of an hour remaining; Sean Dickson steering a penalty kick just inside the post.
Two minutes later, trialist Salim Kouider-Aissa popped up with the winner following a corner and we held on to clinch the cup.
It was an impressive performance from Stuart McLaren’s side, who now welcome Oldham to Forthbank on Friday before the action gets under way for real against Elgin City in the Petrofac Training Cup a week on Saturday.
