We are delighted to welcome defender Mark Staunton to Forthbank as our fifth signing of the summer.
The 26-year-old has spent the past two years with Irvine Meadow and picked up two Player of the Year awards in 2013/14 before being made captain in the season just ended as Medda finished third in the West Super League Premier Division, behind Auchinleck Talbot and Hurlford.
Mark began his career as a youngster with Celtic and had spells on the books of Charlton Athletic and Falkirk before moving to East Fife in 2009. He also played for Stranraer and Beith Juniors prior to joining Irvine Meadow in the summer of 2013.
Mark becomes our latest recruit for 2015/16, following the deals agreed last month with Stenhousemuir keeper Chris Smith and defender Ross McMillan, as well as midfield pair Sean Dickson (East Fife) and Jon Paul McGovern (Ayr United).
Stirling Albion manager Stuart McLaren said: “Mark is a central defender who is adept at covering in either full-back position. He is a real competitor, is a terrific reader of the game, and a great communicator.
“He has a real desire to win and is determined to demonstrate that he can perform well again in senior football. He will complement the defenders we already have in the squad and his personality will fit hand in glove within the club.”
