Following on from internal discussion and communication with the relevant parties, the Club is now in a position to advise that Stuart McLaren will take full responsibility for the management and coaching of our Under 20 squad, in addition to his First-Team role.
The high level detail behind this decision is addressed in the quotes below and more information will follow in due course.
Stuart McLaren, Manager, said: “Since my appointment just over six months ago I have been assessing all the aspects of the football department within Stirling Albion. I recently presented my recommendations to the Board for their consideration and I am pleased to report that they were unanimously agreed and will be implemented over the course of the next couple of months”
Stuart Brown, Chairman, said: “The over-arching aim of Stuart’s recommendations is to ultimately have the football department operating as professionally as it can be for a part-time club and as part of this process the coaching structure for the U20 Squad will undergo some changes.
“Stuart McLaren, as Manager, will work with that group of players, in addition to his first-team responsibilities, to ensure that we maximise their potential and provide the best possible transition into senior professional football for our most promising players. Unfortunately, as a consequence of this restructuring, we will not be in a position to retain the services of this season’s U20 coaches, Graeme Donald and David Binnie.
“I would wish to stress that this is in no way a reflection on their abilities – everyone connected with SAFC fully recognises the excellent work conducted by Graeme and David over their period of time with the Club and everyone at the Club will work tirelessly to ensure that we build upon the strong foundation they have laid.
“On behalf of the Board and the First-Team Management, I would like to place on record our sincerest thanks to them both for all the dedication and expertise they have shown as coaches of the U20s (and Under 19s previously) and wish them all the very best for the future.
“As stated above, further details about other recommendations will be released in the near future but one other bit of news at this point in time is that our First-Team Physiotherapist, Fotios Kalisperatis, will be replaced for the 2015/16 season. Again, on behalf of everyone at SAFC, I would like to thank Fotios for his efforts on behalf of the Club and wish him all the very best for the future.”
