Stirling Albion head for Somerset Park on Saturday for our final away game in League 1, before we conclude the campaign at home to Stenhousemuir next weekend.
We are seeking only our fourth win of 2014/15 against an Ayr United side looking to avoid being involved in the relegation play-offs next month.
Team news: Defenders Kevin McKinlay and Adam Cummins, who have both had spells at Somerset Park, are suspended and Steven Doris, Lewis Coult, Willie Robertson, Callum Reidford and Graham Weir are all are injured. Lee Hamilton returns from a one-match ban and Darren Lee Smith could feature while several members of our U20 team will be in the squad. Ayr report no injury worries.
Opponents: Ayr made a great start to the season but currently occupy the relegation play-off place, on goal difference from Stenhousemuir. The Honest Men are without a win in their last nine games and have won just twice since mid-October. Ian McCall’s men went down 2-0 to Airdrie at the Excelsior Stadium last weekend and finish their season away to Forfar.
Past meetings: Ayr ran out 3-1 winners at Forthbank back in August and claimed a 4-1 victory in Stirling in February. The Somerset Park meeting ended 2-2 just before Christmas when Craig Beattie scored a last-minute leveller after a Steven Doris double had overturned Alan Forrest’s opener. Our last win away to Ayr was a 5-2 victory in December 2005.
