Stirling Albion travel to Brechin on Saturday to play Ray McKinnon’s promotion hopefuls at Glebe Park.
We trail Ayr United and Stenhousemuir by 11 points with four games to go and have to win this weekend to avoid relegation to League 2 being confirmed.
Team news: Midfielder Craig Comrie is available after serving a one-match ban in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Airdrie and Graham Weir returns after illness. Steven Doris, Lewis Coult and Darren Lee Smith are all still out.
Opponents: Brechin occupy the final play-off spot, three points ahead of Airdrie, having won 2-0 at Morton last weekend. City racked up a club record-equalling 17 league games without defeat before losing 3-0 at Peterhead a month ago. Ray McKinnon’s men have drawn more games than any other team in League 1 – their home record this season is five wins, seven draws and three defeats.
Past meetings: We lost 2-1 on our last visit to Glebe Park – the November midweek fixture was Stuart McLaren’s first league game in charge. Gordon Smith missed a penalty on a night when Graham Weir scored our goal late on. Ray McKinnon’s men are looking to make it a clean sweep, having also beaten us 5-0 and 1-0 at Forthbank.
