We won our last home game against Peterhead but could be relegated this weekend if we fail to beat Airdrieonians and both Stenhousemuir and Ayr pick up full points.
Stuart McLaren’s men are looking to bounce back from last week’s 4-0 defeat to Forfar at Station Park against an Airdrie side who are three points behind Brechin in the race for the final play-off place.
Team news: Craig Comrie is suspended, Steven Doris is out for the rest of the season and Darren Lee Smith is also absent. Keeper Greg Paterson left the club this week due to work commitments but Callum Reidford is expected to be fit after being forced off at Forfar last week with a shoulder knock. Full-back Kevin McKinlay could return after a foot injury and on-loan Hearts midfielder Angus Beith is available again following international duty with the Scotland U19s but Lewis Coult is rated a doubt.
Opponents: Airdrie have moved to within three points of the play-offs after a run of just one defeat in 11 games – a 1-0 reverse at leaders Stranraer a fortnight ago. Gary Bollan’s men beat Stenhousemuir 2-1 at home last weekend and have lost only twice on their travels since September – both of those setbacks were at Stair Park.
Past meetings: It was 0-0 when the sides met at the Excelsior Stadium at the end of August – that was Airdrie’s first point of the season and also our most recent shut-out. It ended 2-2 at Forthbank in October when Gordon Smith and Dale Fulton got our goals, with Scott Fraser and Marc Fitzpatrick on target for the visitors. We took an early lead through Ross McGeachie in the most recent encounter but Bryan Prunty and Jim Lister scored second-half doubles in a 4-1 win for Airdrie.
