We are bidding to end our long wait for a home league win when promotion-chasing Peterhead come to Forthbank on Saturday afternoon.
Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Stranraer means we have drawn four and lost 10 of our 14 home games so far this season and have Peterhead, Airdrie, Morton and Stenhousemuir still to play in the next few weeks.
Team news: Steven Doris is out for the rest of the season and Darren Lee Smith is also sidelined. Full-back Kevin McKinlay is absent with a foot injury and on-loan Hearts midfielder Angus Beith, due to join up with the Scotland U19 squad next week, is again doubtful with a hip knock.
Opponents: Peterhead are sixth in the table but are only four points outside the play-offs after recent home wins over Forfar and Brechin – Saturday’s 3-0 success ending City’s 17-match unbeaten run. The Blue Toon’s away record is five wins, three draws and six defeats but they have taken only one point out of 12 on their travels since winning at Airdrie in early January.
Past meetings: Peterhead triumphed 3-2 on their last visit to Forthbank at the beginning of December and Jim McInally’s men came from behind to win 2-1 at Balmoor in January with goals from Rory McAllister (penalty) and Jamie Stevenson after Craig Wedderburn had given us the lead. It was 1-1 at Balmoor on the opening day of the League 1 season.
