Stirling Albion head for Greenock on Tuesday, kick-off 7.30pm, to face in-form Morton at Cappielow in a game that was due to be played on Saturday February 7 but was postponed due a frozen pitch. We are bidding to end a run of six straight defeats, the latest of which was a 4-1 reverse at Airdrie on Saturday.
Team news: Long-term absentees Steven Doris and Graham Weir remain out but Darren Lee Smith returned to action on Saturday after a four-month absence due to a knee injury. Loan signings Andy Stirling (Dunfermline) and Adam Cummins (Motherwell) should again feature after making their debuts at Airdrie. Lewis Coult is hoping to recover from the heel injury that forced him off at half-time and Chris Smith could return after illness saw him sidelined on Saturday.
Opponents: Morton are unbeaten in their last seven matches – five wins and two draws – and are just a point behind leaders Stranraer. Jim Duffy’s men came from behind to defeat Peterhead 3-1 at Balmoor on Saturday. Morton’s home record this season is eight wins, one draw and three defeats.
Past meetings: We lost 2-0 at Cappielow back in October then surrendered a 3-1 lead at Forthbank on December 27 as Morton claimed a 4-3 win. Our last success in Greenock was 2-1 in a midweek match in October 2005 – since then we have played there eight times, drawing three and losing five.
