After 12 unsuccessful attempts, our quest for a first home league win of the season sees Stirling Albion face in-form Brechin City at Forthbank on Saturday. We are bidding to bounce back from last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Ayr United and close the eight-point gap on second-bottom Stenhousemuir as the season enters the final third.
Team news: Steven Doris, Graham Weir and Darren Lee Smith remain on the injury list, although the latter is nearing a return. U20 striker Chris Paton will be hoping to make the squad after scoring a hat-trick in the 5-0 win against East Stirlingshire in the Development League on Tuesday.
Opponents: Ray McKinnon was voted League 1 Manager of the Month for January and his side are unbeaten in 12 league games going back to October. Brechin’s most recent outing was a 1-1 draw with Morton at Glebe Park on Saturday. Their away record this season is five wins, five draws and just two defeats.
Past meetings: Brechin coasted to a 5-0 victory at Forthbank in September, helped by doubles from Andy Jackson and Alan Trouten. We were unfortunate to lose 2-1 at Glebe Park in a midweek match in November. Graham Weir scored our goal and Gordon Smith missed a penalty after Colin Hamilton had been sent off. We won three of the four meetings in 2011/12 despite being relegated.
