Stirling Albion boss Stuart McLaren was left frustrated after Craig Beattie grabbed a last-minute leveller to deny us our first league win since August.
It ended 2-2 at Somerset Park, with Steven Doris scoring two superb goals after Alan Forrest had given Ayr the lead early in the second half.
McLaren said: “To come back from conceding the first goal is evidence of our quality and our strong mentality so it’s really disappointing to concede a goal so late in the game, especially in the manner we did.
“We have performed well in recent games and I thought we deservedly took a 2-1 lead – if we can tidy up a little bit in terms of not conceding soft goals then we have a good chance of getting out of the predicament we are in.”
Andy Millen, in caretaker charge of Ayr following the departure of Mark Roberts last Monday, said: “It was a difficult week but the players worked hard in training – they deserve credit for going right to the end against Stirling.”
