Stirling Albion travel to East End Park on Saturday to take on League 1 title favourites Dunfermline. We head for Fife on the back of a 1-1 home draw with in-form Stranraer and are looking to close the five-point gap on second-bottom Airdrieonians. It’s our final league game of the month, with a Scottish Cup tie against Raith at Forthbank to look forward to next weekend.
Team news: Midfielder Darren Lee Smith remains sidelined with a knee injury and the game comes too soon for striker Lewis Coult. Craig Comrie, missing since the 0-0 draw with Airdrie at the end of August, is set to return to the squad.
Opponents: Dunfermline have slipped to fourth spot after a four-match winless run but Morton are the only visiting team to score at East End Park in League 1 this season. The Pars, who were runners-up to Rangers last season but lost to Cowdenbeath in the play-off final, went down 1-0 to Stenhousemuir at Ochilview last week.
Past meetings: Dunfermline won 2-0 at Forthbank on October 4 thanks to goals in the last 10 minutes from Shaun Byrne and Faissal El-Bakhtaoui. Our last visit to East End Park was in March 2011 when we were beaten 4-1, with Martin Hardie scoring a hat-trick for the Pars. John Kane scored our goal on a day when Paul McHale and Martyn Corrigan were sent off, although we successfully appealed our current assistant manager’s red card. Our last victory over Dunfermline was 3-0 at Forthbank in October 2007 and we haven’t won at East End Park since April 1993.
