Stirling Albion face in-form Stranraer at Forthbank on Saturday as we bid to claim our first home win of the season in League 1.
We go into the match at the foot of the table but on the back of an encouraging performance despite our 2-1 defeat at Brechin on Tuesday while our visitors have moved into the top four after a good run of results.
Team news: Striker Lewis Coult and midfielder Darren Lee Smith remain out and the game also comes too soon for Craig Comrie, who has returned to training but hasn’t played since the 0-0 draw against Airdrie at the end of August.
Opponents: Stranraer’s last league defeat was 2-1 at home to Dunfermline at the end of August and their only setback in the last 11 matches was a penalty shoot-out loss to Livingston in the semi-finals of the Petrofac Training Cup. Stephen Aitken’s side have won two, drawn three and lost one of their six away fixtures in League 1. Ex-Binos Chris Aitken and Steven Bell started last week’s 3-1 home win over Ayr United.
Past meetings: First-half goals from Jamie Longworth and Stephen Stirling gave Stranraer a 2-0 win at Stair Park at the end of September. The Blues also won on their last visit to Forthbank in April 2009, Michael Moore netting in the last minute to seal a 2-1 success. A crowd of 2,190 saw a thrilling 2-2 draw in Stirling in May 2004 in a season when both clubs were promoted to Division 2. Our last win over Stranraer was an incredible 8-2 victory at Stair Park in January 2009.
