Forfar Athletic are the visitors to Forthbank on Saturday as we bid to bounce back from last week’s 5-0 home defeat to Brechin City. Dick Campbell’s side have made a good start to the season and beat Peterhead 1-0 at Station Park last weekend. We travel to Stranraer next Saturday and begin October at home to Dunfermline.
Team news: Winger Phil Johnston is again set to miss out but forward Steven Doris, who returned from a month out with a shoulder injury last week, got another run-out in Monday’s Development League game against East Stirlingshire at Stirling University, as did Lewis Coult and Willie Robertson. Forfar report no new injury worries and welcome back Martyn Fotheringham.
Opponents: Forfar are one of three teams level on 10 points at the top of League 1, along with Dunfermline and Ayr United. Dick Campbell’s side have beaten Dunfermline, Morton and Peterhead at home and drawn at Stranraer and lost at Ayr on their travels. Forfar finished seventh in League 1 last season but were only six points short of the promotion play-offs.
Past meetings: The sides last met in March 2012 when we conceded a last-minute goal in a 4-3 defeat at Station Park that pushed us closer to relegation. Forfar also won 4-2 at Forthbank in 2011/12, with the other two games ending 2-2. The Angus club won 2-1 at Forthbank in the first round of the League Cup in July 2010 but we won all four games in 2006/07 without losing a goal.
