Greig McDonald’s men welcome Brechin City to Forthbank on Saturday as we return to action after the international break. It’s our first home game in League 1 since losing to Ayr United on August 16 and we face a Brechin side who have drawn both their away fixtures.
Team news: Former Dundee forward Steven Doris, out since suffering a shoulder injury against Peterhead on August 9, could return but winger Phil Johnston is still missing and he is joined on the sidelines by midfielder Craig Comrie.
Opponents: Ray McKinnon’s side are unbeaten in League 1, with draws against Dunfermline, Stranraer and Peterhead and a win over Stenhousemuir. They won 3-1 at Cowdenbeath in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup but lost at home to Peterhead in round two. Dumbarton won 1-0 at Glebe Park in the League Cup.
Past meetings: We last faced Brechin in the Second Division in 2011/12 when we won three of the four meetings. The last of those was 2-1 at Glebe Park in April 2012 when Mark Ferry and Alan Cook got our goals. The most recent encounter at Forthbank saw Brechin score two late goals to win 3-2 in February 2012. We won both home games en route to promotion in 2009/10, including a 6-2 success in a midweek match, then clinched the title with a 1-1 draw at Brechin on the final day.
