Stirling Albion head for Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium on Saturday on the back of last weekend’s thrilling 5-4 win against Stenhousemuir in the local derby at Ochilview.
We have no game next week due to the international break then we welcome Brechin and Forfar to Forthbank for back-to-back home fixtures in League 1.
Team news: Forward Steven Doris and winger Phil Johnston remain out and Graham Weir is unavailable due to work commitments. Airdrie welcome back Keigan Parker but John Boyle is a doubt and David Proctor faces a late check.
Opponents: Airdrie were struggling when Gary Bollan took over last October but he revived the side and they strung together an outstanding sequence of results. They have started this campaign slowly and find themselves at the bottom of the early table after losing 3-0 at title favourites Dunfermline. Former Tamworth defender Ben Richards-Everton joined the Diamonds on loan from Partick Thistle last week.
Match facts: We are unbeaten away from home since losing 1-0 at Clyde on March 15, having won six and drawn once on the road since then. Gordon Smith has scored six times since signing from Raith Rovers in the summer. Airdrie lost their last home game 2-0 to Peterhead after Keigan Parker had been sent off.
Past meetings: The Excelsior Stadium was the scene of one of our most memorable results, when we won 3-2 in May 2007 to clinch promotion to Division One via the play-offs. We have visited three times since then – all of the games coming in 2011/12 when we were thrashed 5-0 in the League Cup, recovered to draw 1-1 in the league but lost 4-1 on our most recent visit in January 2012.
