Stirling Albion manager Greig McDonald felt his side were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Alloa in the second round of the Petrofac Training Cup at Forthbank on Tuesday night.
Greig Spence scored twice for the visitors before Darren Lee Smith pulled one back on a night when both Gordon Smith and Craig Comrie were denied by the woodwork.
McDonald said: “I feel pretty aggrieved to be out the cup. I thought we passed the ball really well, we have hit the bar twice and we scored a wonderful goal.
“The boys worked incredibly hard and should take confidence from the fact they have pushed Alloa close on two occasions this season. It’s disappointing to lose but the performance was much better than against Ayr on Saturday.”
Alloa boss Barry Smith said: “We played better in the last two league games (defeats to QOS and Raith Rovers) but winning is what’s important. We were comfortable at 2-0 but took our foot off the gas and allowed Stirling back into it.”
