Alloa are the visitors to Forthbank in the second round of the Petrofac Training Cup on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm. The tie will be played to a finish, with extra time and penalties if required, and a place in Thursday afternoon’s quarter-final draw is up for grabs.
Team news: Steven Doris is joined on the sidelines by winger Phil Johnston and former Alloa full-back James Creaney, who both picked up injuries on Saturday.
Previous round: Gordon Smith (2) and Darren Lee Smith got the goals as we beat Elgin City 3-0 at Borough Briggs. Alloa ran out 4-1 winners against Arbroath at Gayfield, helped by a Greig Spence hat-trick.
Weekend results: We go into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Ayr United while Alloa went down 1-0 to Raith Rovers at Recreation Park.
Past meetings: Alloa have won the last six local derbies, including a 1-0 League Cup victory at Recreation Park on August 2 when Greig Spence scored the only goal. The sides have met on three previous occasions in this competition – all of them at Forthbank. We won 4-2 in round two in 1995/96 and 2-1 in the first round in 1997/98 but lost the 1999/00 semi-final 2-1.
Quarter-final draw: Thursday at 2pm. Ties to be played on Saturday September 6
