Binos boss Greig McDonald felt a slow start cost his side the chance of causing a shock as Alloa won 1-0 in the first round of the League Cup at Recreation Park on Saturday.
Greig Spence got the goal after 26 minutes as the Wasps had the better of the first half but it was a more even contest in the second period.
McDonald said: “I’m frustrated, and so are the players, because we didn’t show up until the last half hour – and when we did we caused them some problems.
“The goal was a bit unfortunate because it was a tackle from Craig Comrie and the ball has fallen to Greig Spence. There wasn’t an awful lot in the game but we didn’t get into gear early enough.”
Alloa manager Barry Smith said: “I thought we did very well in the first half and should maybe have scored one or two more goals but Stirling did extremely well in the second half.
“It was a tough game because they have good forward players who are hard to deal with but overall I felt we deserved to go through.”
