Stirling Albion will compete in the SPFL Development League in 2014/15.
The competition replaces the SPFL Reserve and U19 Leagues and will operate on the basis of an U20 League but with five over-age players allowed in the matchday squad of 18.
We are one of nine clubs in the East Section – the others are Alloa Athletic, Berwick Rangers, Cowdenbeath, East Stirlingshire, Forfar Athletic, Livingston, Raith Rovers and Stenhousemuir.
Clubs will play each other three times for a total of 24 matches and the season is due to start in the first midweek in September, with our opening game away to Berwick.
Airdrieonians, Annan Athletic, Ayr United, Clyde, Dumbarton, Morton, Queen of the South, Queen’s Park and Stranraer are in the West Section.
There are 17 clubs in the top tier of the Development League – the current Premiership teams plus Hearts, Hibernian, Falkirk, Rangers and Dunfermline – and it gets under way on Tuesday August 5.
