We are delighted to announce the signing of three new players, including the return of a former Bino, as well as the re-signing of Ross Forsyth for 2014/15.
The new recruits are goalkeeper Greg Paterson, centre-back Craig Wedderburn and Darren (Lee) Smith, who returns to the Forthbank fold after two seasons with Stenhousemuir.
Goalkeeper Greg, 24, arrives from East Fife, although he missed the play-off final after suffering an injury during their semi-final win over Clyde. Greg spent a number of years with Dunfermline then moved to Forfar, from where he switched to Linlithgow Rose before joining East Fife.
Defender Craig, 24, has left St Andrews United Juniors to return to senior football after previous spells with Raith Rovers, Arbroath and Clyde.
Forward Darren, 26, is a former Scotland U21 internationalist, who began his career at Motherwell before moving to Ross County in 2010. He spent the 2011/12 campaign with Stirling Albion and now returns after two years at Ochilview.
Ross, 31, has agreed a new contract after helping us win promotion – the third he has achieved across two spells with Stirling Albion. The former St Johnstone, Morton and Dumbarton defender was skipper during our successful run at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper David Crawford, who joined from Montrose during 2012/13, has left the club. He goes with our thanks for his major contribution to our promotion-winning season and our best wishes for the future.
Jordan White, top scorer in each of the last two seasons, continues to attract attention from a number of full-time clubs but a deal has yet to be signed.
SAFC Chairman Stuart Brown said: “We fully appreciate and understand Jordan’s desire for full-time football and that our best efforts to re-sign him are unlikely to be successful.
“Manager Greig McDonald has a number of other targets in mind and discussions are at an advanced stage with a couple of them. We also have a number of players attending pre-season training and I expect further news on signings in the near future.”
