Binos boss Greig McDonald praised his injury-hit squad for claiming a vital 2-0 win against Albion Rovers at Forthbank on Saturday.
Second-half goals from David Weatherston and Jordan White saw us go above Berwick into fifth spot and we are now just two points behind second-placed Annan.
Ross Forsyth, Dale Fulton, Phil Johnston, David McClune, Kieran McAnespie, Chris Smith and Graham Weir were all ruled out while Darren Smith played despite being ill and Mark Ferry hasn’t trained recently due to work commitments.
McDonald said: “We had so many players out but credit to the guys that came in. I think David Crawford only had one save to make in the whole game. The first half was a bit of a battle but I still felt we were the better side.
“We were dominant in the second half and scored two terrific goals. Lee Hamilton has been excellent for the U19s and deserved his chance when he came on and hopefully David Weatherston getting a goal will give him a boost.”
Albion Rovers manager James Ward said: “Stirling were the hungrier team and deserved to win. I don’t know if this was a hangover after the Scottish Cup, and losing Liam Cusack to injury in the first half didn’t help, but overall it wasn’t good enough.”
