Stirling Albion are pleased to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Darren Smith until the summer after he was released by Arbroath earlier today.
The 33-year-old began his career at Berwick Rangers and spent four years with Brechin City before joining Raith Rovers in June 2009.
He then had spells at Alloa and East Fife before moving to Gayfield at the start of this season, where he made 18 league appearances – 16 starts and two as a substitute.
With the relevant paperwork now lodged at Hampden, Darren goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game against Montrose at Links Park.
SAFC Operations Director Stuart Brown said: “This is something we have been working on for a couple of weeks and we are delighted to have got things sorted out before the transfer window closed.
“Darren is a player Greig (McDonald) was very keen to bring to the club and we look forward to seeing him in a Stirling Albion jersey.”
Greig added: “Darren had a few offers but I’m delighted he chose to join us and, as with Mick O’Byrne, I’m sure he will be a valuable addition to our team.”
