Everyone at Stirling Albion would like to congratulate U17 player Conor McKenzie, who has been selected for the U18 Scottish Schools international squad.
Scotland will play Centenary Shield matches against Northern Ireland, Wales, England and the Republic of Ireland between February and April 2014.
SAFC Head of Youth (admin) Stewart Taylor said: “Conor, who attends Dunblane High School, has been performing well this season and his effort and commitment has earned him this selection.
“Three other players in the programme came close to a call-up – Conor’s U17 team-mate Jordan Herron and U19 pair Stephen Al-Sayed and Greg Hurst also made the final trial but just missed out.”
Conor, who joined Stirling Albion as a 12-year-old, is added to a growing list of SAFC players who have represented Scotland at this level, including present first-team defenders Ross McGeachie and Jamie Clark.
Others from the past are Liam Corr, Steven Forbes, Mike McAdam, Gregg Munn, Don Morrison, Magnus Neilson and Andy Hunter.
We wish Conor good luck for a successful international season.
