We go into Saturday’s game against Ross Jack’s Elgin City two points behind leaders Peterhead but only six points separate the leading eight clubs after 15 rounds of fixtures. This is our final match at Forthbank before Christmas and we go into it with the best home record in League 2, with five wins out of seven.
Team news: Forward Graham Weir serves a one-match ban after being sent off in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Albion Rovers and defender Chris Smith will be out until January after undergoing minor knee surgery last week. Mark Ferry could return after a foot injury but Bradley Coyne is doubtful after picking up a knock in training.
Facts and figures: We are looking for our fifth straight home win in League 2 after recent victories over Montrose, Albion Rovers, Queen’s Park and Berwick. Elgin have won their last two matches against Queen’s Park and Berwick. Their away record is one win, four draws and two defeats. Only Peterhead have scored more goals than Elgin but only Queen’s Park have conceded more.
Recent meetings: We suffered a 4-0 defeat at Borough Briggs at the end of September and won only one of the four meetings last season – a 2-1 away victory in March thanks to two stunning Kieran McAnespie strikes. Elgin won 4-1 at Forthbank 13 months ago and the second encounter in Stirling ended in a 1-1 draw in April.
