Only four points separate nine clubs in League 2 as we prepare to face Albion Rovers in a rearranged fixture at Forthbank on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm. The game was due to be played on Saturday October 12 but was postponed because of our Scottish Cup replay against Whitehill Welfare.
Team news: David Weatherston remains out with a hamstring injury and Kieran McAnespie is also sidelined. Ross Forsyth misses out due to work commitments. Rovers are without Kevin Nicoll, Pat Walker, Peter Innes and Darren Miller.
Season so far: Rovers won their opening two League 2 fixtures but, like ourselves, have struggled for consistency since then. We have won two of our last seven matches and James Ward’s men have recorded one victory in the same period, although that was an impressive 4-1 defeat of leaders East Stirlingshire at Ochilview. The Coatbridge club have drawn their last two games, against Elgin and Queen’s Park, and are one point below us in the table after a quarter of the season. They are the only team still unbeaten away from home in League 2.
Recent meetings: We took 10 points out of 12 in the four meetings against Rovers in 2011/12 but that didn’t prevent us from being relegated as the Cliftonhill men stayed up via the play-offs. We haven’t lost this fixture since a 2-1 defeat in April 2003.
