Stirling Albion head to Rosewell on Saturday for our William Hill Scottish Cup second-round replay against Whitehill Welfare at Ferguson Park.
We have been involved in few cup replays over the past two decades but have a good record, most recently a 3-1 win over Albion Rovers in 2009/10 after a 0-0 draw at Cliftonhill – the reward for which was a 9-0 thrashing at Ross County!
Before that, you have to back to 1998/99 when we defeated Montrose 2-1 at Forthbank after a 0-0 draw at Links Park then famously dumped out Hibs, again by 2-1, after a 1-1 draw at Easter Road.
In 1994/95, Kevin Drinkell’s team produced a first-class performance to demolish Dumbarton 3-0 at Forthbank following an epic 3-3 draw at Boghead.
Our last replay defeat was in 1993/94 when a 90th-minute equaliser denied John Brogan’s side a quarter-final place as St Johnstone snatched a 3-3 draw at McDiarmid Park before winning 2-0 in Stirling just two days later.
The winners of Saturday’s replay will be away to Highland League Turriff United in round three on Saturday November 2.
