Stirling Albion return to action following the international break with a home game against Annan Athletic on Saturday. It’s our only Forthbank fixture in League 2 until the visit of Albion Rovers on October 12 and we go into the game level with East Stirlingshire at the top of the table, four points ahead of Annan.
Team news: Winger Phil Johnston returns but midfielder David McClune, who suffered an ankle injury in our 2-0 win at Hampden a fortnight ago, and skipper Jamie Bishop, who damaged his hamstring in the warm-up that day, are out. Annan today signed Rangers defender Andrew Mitchell on a three-month loan deal but keeper Alex Mitchell and defender Steven Swinglehurst are out.
Season so far: Annan have picked up four of their five points at home – their only defeat so far was 4-2 at Berwick on August 31. Jim Chapman’s side beat Highland League Formartine 4-0 last weekend to reach the Ramsdens Cup semi-finals.
Last season: We won 5-1 at Forthbank in August then lost 5-2 at Galabank in November. We came out on top 2-1 in a midweek match in February and won 1-0 away thanks to an early Stephen Day goal in April.
